You can reduce the environmental burden on the Baltic Sea by making sustainable choices at home, when shopping, in society, as well as in nature. Let’s work together to secure a prosperous and diverse Baltic Sea!

Just as in nature and environmental protection in general, the state of the Baltic Sea can be affected by both small actions and everyday choices. It is actually pretty easy, and you are guaranteed to feel good when the nature and residents of our home sea thank you for your efforts!

With just a few small actions, you can significantly reduce your own burden on the Baltic Sea:

  1. Eat herring, bream, and roach and other wild fish from the Baltic Sea. They remove nutrients from the sea.
  2. Reduce your meat intake. Most of the nitrogen and phosphorus load in the Baltic Sea comes from food production.
  3. Consider carefully what you buy and sort your waste also. In this way, plastic and other litter do not end up in the sea and harm its organisms.
  4. By choosing environmentally friendly products you can reduce the burden on the environment.
